Applicable from June 1, the amount charged for the A-class/deluxe rooms at AIIMS has nearly doubled to Rs 6000 with the daily charges increasing by Rs 800 from Rs 2,200. The notice also stated that a 10-day advanced deposit of Rs 63,000  for deluxe rooms and Rs 33,000 for the B-Class rooms are necessary.

A separate order was issued stating that all the lab/instrument tests conducted in the hospital will be cost-free, which previously cost Rs 300. A senior doctor stated that the revenue generated by the test charges was a small amount, however, patients could be freed from the harassment of standing in queues to make payments in a stressed situation. He also added that the increased cost of the deluxe room was very steep.

AIIMS Source stated that the general idea behind the increased charges is to increase additional revenue that could help in reducing the charges of services in the general ward.
